Our Recommendations

————————————

For track day use we recommend our single carbon fiber rear wing package, also a 71” width and add the 10” track riser extensions for a more downforce if you don't have any trailer space limitations. Also, to balance the car, you can add the dual front wing.

At normal HP levels, the drag for the single rear wing at the end of the straights will be out-weighed by the improved lap times in the corners. The system is adjustable, so you can trim the wing angle for Roval type courses if needed to reduce drag. We use blem quality wing elements to reduce the cost by $100, which may have unnoticeable weave imperfections.

Configurations for our Carbon fiber rear wing:
For high performance road:

  • Single element carbon fiber rear wing

For some mixed track use:

  • Add 5” or 10” risers

For timed lapping:

  • Add 10” rear risers

  • 71” wide single rear with gurney flap

  • Dual aluminum front wing

For track records or Time Attack:

  • Dual rear wing and dual aluminum front wing

Rear Wing:
We recommend a single 71” wide rear for improved track lap time with a gurney flap. Customers find the rear 10” struts extensions are more effective at the track, but can use the 5” extensions if the wing looks too tall to you. With the single rear element wing customers are reporting good improvements in lap times.

Front Wing:
Along with our single element Carbon fiber rear wing, we are offering a dual aluminum Front element set-up, that compliments the rear downforce for track use. The stronger aluminum elements are more durable than carbon fiber, so it’s a better choice for the front wing.

You would need a factory or aftermarket front tow bracket to mount the front wing. It’s the same way the factory mounts the wing. The front is easily removable if you don’t want it on or ease of trailer loading. The front wing itself is stiff, but the tow hook has some flex. We now offer have a cable brace kit forextra support.

Dual Rear Wing:
Recently some of our more extreme high horsepower customers wanted a dual element rear for max downforce. They see more improvement, but we recommend bracing the rear hoop some from rearward drag force at high speeds.

Customer Testimonials

—————————————

I’m revising my estimate of lap time to a much larger 4.1 seconds improvement with the wings. I got to run Sonoma again and I pushed it harder. I even beat Darin Posley’s record in his modified Atom, he is the hot shoe guy for Ariel and won lots in spec Miata. I got a 1:41.7 compared to his 1:42.4. We’re haulin’ the mail! This is the Atom Sonoma record now and we’re only a few seconds off Radical SR3 times.
— Customer with the dual rear wing and a custom front wing
Now for a report on how the wings worked. Bottom line: great. I lopped 5 seconds off a 2 minute lap time on a 2.75 mile track featuring: An NHRA drag strip as the main straight. Three 100+mph twisty sections. 2 carousels taken at around 70 mph. A bunch of fiddly low speed sections.
I think there is little hope of the dual front wing balancing out the dual rear wing if set for maximum downforce.
